Freedom Walk to the Wall
Memorial Day is more than just an extra day off work, a great day to buy a new mattress or to celebrate being American by eating a hot dog or a warm slice of apple pie. There is a history, and a virtuous one at that, of why we observe Memorial Day. I encourage you to pause and remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure you have the freedom to do so. Every name etched on the MECW has guaranteed that freedom.
The Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial was built in 2004 and features the names of all fallen heroes resulted from the Middle East conflicts since 1967. The Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial, located at 200 Riverfront Drive in Marseilles, Illinois, was built with donated material and labor. It is the first of its kind in the history of the United States. It honors our fallen heroes by name while we are still in the war that caused the lost lives of our brave servicemen and women.
In 2018, Gold Star Mother Jill Stephenson started Freedom Walk USA to raise awareness about the true meaning of Memorial Day. She invites you to join this initiative as she leads the way in the 4th Annual Freedom Walk USA! Again, she's challenging America to walk 1,000,000 miles to honor our fallen heroes! Remember, if you can't join the group in Illinois for the walk, that's ok! Walk your miles anywhere in the country and log them on this page! You can watch the progress of the #FreedomWalkUSA!
Remember, we are walking to honor our fallen servicemen and women that made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live our American Dream. The main event on Memorial Day Weekend will be from Glencoe, IL to our nation's only Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial. We are raising awareness for the only wall of it's kind in this great nation.
The event will start on May 28, 2021 at Veterans Memorial Park, 299 Park Avenue, Glencoe, IL 60022 at 8:30am & ends at the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial on May 29, 2021 at 12pm.
This year, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is joining as a partner for the 4th Annual Freedom Walk USA. Members of their organization will join in escorting our group for the final mile of our journey.

All funds raised during the Freedom Walk USA will be donated to the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial Tribute Committee. Their organization is responsible for construction, maintenance and daily care and preservation of the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial.
